Embroidery prices have been trimmed and cut and a brand spanking new set of prices can be found on the embroidery information page.
Embroidery is a way of presenting a brand or logo in a more elegant way than screen printing offers and is particularly suitable for items where print doesn’t adhere very well such as waterproof jackets, bags and hats and pique polo shirts.
It is a little more expensive than screen printing but sometimes it is more suitable and has the added advantage of looking classier.
Always keeping an eye on the latest t-shirt stores with their limited edition, uber-cool screen printed wares is not one of the most tiresome tasks in life but it is made easier by a collection of handy blogs such as TeeJunkie, PreShrunk and Josh Spear (see the blogroll for more). Each time an interesting global-micro-brand in the t-shirt arena pops up on our radar it is added to our favourite links page, powered by del.icio.us.
The latest store worthy of mentions comes via Josh Spear and is presented in a magnificently designed website. Cartel Goods showcases a range of fine t-shirt designers so if it matters to you that the shirt on your back is not mass produced by a soulless high-street chain, then I suggest checking this New York online outlet out.

Last night it poured with rain in London and hence I found myself unintentionally road testing the B&C Spray jacket. The sample we had in the office was a bright red, size large and - whilst a little on the big side for me - this jacket bowled me over with its quality and, more importantly after nearly two hours in driving rain, my suit beneath was bone dry. Normally these kind of jackets are simply ’splash-proof’, but according to my catalogue this jacket is made from “100% Heavy Taslan Waterproof Nylon”. Well I don’t have a clue what ‘Taslan’ is, but the coat certainly kept me dry!
There were also other touches of quality that impressed me. The mesh lining for example, and the contrast colour full-length placket that prevent water seeping in behind the zip. From an embroidery point of view, the jacket has a bottom inner zip which allows an embroidery machinist easy access to decorate the garment.
Overall I really rate this jacket. Lightweight, waterproof and it actually has some style (rare for most of the products in our industry). B&C is a brand of the Cotton Group, a Belgium promotional clothing manufacturer. We will certainly be taking a closer look at their jacket range in the future.
As for availability, you can get these jackets in Cream, Black, Red, Dark Grey, Ice Blue and Navy and in sizes from Small to XXL.
Prices:
- 8-24 pcs: £14.50 per item
- 25-99 pcs: £13.50 per item
- 100+ pcs: £12.50 per item
The product is not yet in our promotional catalogue but will be shortly. If you interested in it just get in touch.

Two Gapingvoid tee designs now sold out, only a few left of the others left.
Get them quick!
Because we have a strong sense of who we are and what we do at Indigo we have wondered about writing a mission statement. I don’t think this is something that should be undertaken lightly so we are going to ponder on it a bit. Moreover, it’s such a busy time of year, our time is better spent on clients than adding to the volume of corporate jargon [I choose my words carefully] on the web.
The quirkiest mission statement I have come across has to be this one from a US advertising agency:
People @ work - What’s our beef with mutton?
WE HATE SHEEP. Not because they’re fat, lazy creatures that smell bad when it rains. No, we hate sheep because they remind us of B2B marketing that’s content to follow instead of lead. Advertising that’s happy to blend in with the flock and go completely unnoticed. The average businessperson is deluged by 3000 messages a day but will only react to about ten. To be part of that Top Ten, your marketing must stand out. It must differentiate. It must be relevant. Otherwise, it is an utter waste of time and money. Sheep marketing slowly starves the brand that pays for it. Bottom line: Sheep kill brands dead. And that’s why we hate ‘em.
Sullivan Higdon & Sink
We see many t-shirt designs every day and whilst we think of ourselves as a young, liberal minded company, we at Indigo draw the line at offensive and insulting imagery such as this design available on the US site Krudmart. We have standards at Indigo and place emphasis on protecting our brand and more importantly, the brands of our clients. Rest assured that Indigo would never print anything as offensive as this and at times in the past have told clients that we are not comfortable with producing their designs onto apparel.
I do wonder whether such an design would actually be illegal in the UK under the Obscene Publications Act 1959 and 1964? Whether it is or not, it is extremely bad taste, especially in light of recent events in both London and the Middle East.

For the fashion conscious amongst you that need to keep up with this seasons new colours, Fashion-Era have the latest list of what’s hot, and what’s not, this Autumn:
Autumn 2005 - Winter 2006 colour palette includes :-
- purple, aubergine, navy, midnight blue, hyacinth, ultra violet…
- teal blue, peacock, turquoise, duck egg, azure …
- rose raspberry red to rich ruby wine, cranberry, scarlet, rich coral red…
- red oxide through to ginger to burnt orange, caramel, copper, mustard yellow…
Purple often on the verge of navy is featured by many main stores. UK outlets of Phase Eight have gorgeous purple velvet and enamel shoes and you can find other similar items at Debenhams’ Designers. Fendi have taken purple right through from Shearling to purple watch bands. Even Tesco’s Florence and Fred range have velvet jackets in purple. Midnight blue and midnight black evening dresses make red carpet statements.
Interesting to see purple/blue is in - hold on isn’t that ‘Indigo’?! Nice to see our brand name is the height of fashion!
The Belgium t-shirt store Skwat has re-launched, offering exclusive t-shirts, stickers and e-cards. Kenza, the owner, works hard and has some great designs. More pics on Skwat’s flickr page. Well worth a visit if you like both flash web-design and printed tees with an Apple Mac/Japanese twist.
