The Independent yesterday ran a great review of Paul Allen’s Book, Your Ethical Business: How to Plan, Start and Succeed in a Company with a Conscience. Trapp, the reviewer, believes Allen is concerned with businesses that from the outset are seeking to do more than make money. He name checks the usuals suspects as examples, smoothie drinks maker Innocent (our client), the chocolate company Divine and the clothing companies People Tree and Howies (one of our organic clothing suppliers).

On the subject of things green and ethical, Indigo now have an account with new London taxi firm, Ecoigo, partly due to our friend, Adam, after reading his excellent blog post on thier service.

Today is the last day of the three day Printwear and Promotion Show (P&P). Despite having written this year for the magazine of the same name, I couldn’t bring myself to traipse all the way up to the NEC in Birmingham and stand in a draughty hall collecting business cards. It is the same every year, I register for tickets, I never go. Why? Well here are my key reasons this year:
- March is the start of the busy season; phones are red hot, the email server bulging. Why not do the show in January?
- It is in Birmingham (enough said).
- If I want to speak to our suppliers that exhibit I normally pick up the phone. If I really want to talk to them we have lunch.
I am not completely anti-trade shows, considering only yesterday Jo and I popped into Sports Merchandise at Chelsea FC, but they are a tedious experience that Google and a telephone have made less relevant in modern business.
Maybe next year?

We blog because we like to tell you what is going on at Indigo, to share the snippets of information we garner from the web and to feature the work of our friends and clients. Olive, from Australia, who is 107 years old, blogs because her friend Mike thinks she has a great story to share. Check out her wonderful site at http://www.allaboutolive.com.au/.

..you wear the colour picker t-shirt from Beautiful Decay, a magazine that “was created to bridge the gap between art and graffiti, underground and mainstream, design and fine art, Punk rock and hip hop, illustration and design, and most importantly high and low art.”

Jeremy (aka Jerro, Jez, Boote or Veggie [insert abuse here]) over at Unearth produces a wicked list of things to do in our capital city of London every week. Check it out as he puts a lot of effort into it.

If you get a chance, check out the designs over at Plain Paper. I really like the ‘flourish’ t-shirts designed by GO LLC and the animal ones are quite fun too, however looking at the model shots (which need some Photoshop work) the deigns look a little small on the t-shirts, a common issue I find with some of Indigo’s client artwork when it is submitted ‘to scale’.
