This morning I had to drive out of London to see one of our printers and thankfully it was a fine Spring day, sun shinning, a balmy 20 degrees. All of a sudden, after turning off just past Stonehenge, and the A360, I came across the B3098, a fantastic stretch of picturesque villages, sharp turns and narrow straights. This is the England an Englishman dreams of when far abroad, even he has never lived in that part of the country and I think this road is what Iain Banks, in his whisky/driving book, Raw Spirit, would deem a ‘Great Wee Road‘ (GWE and ‘wee’ of course being Scottish for ’small’)!
Apart from the great drive, it was a successful meeting too - more details and what this means for our customers on the blog tomorrow.

Working in conjunction with the Cambridge University Student Union (CUSU), Indigo are pleased to announce a special student discount for Cambridge students on Gildan and SAF (organic) products.
Indigo has always had close links with the university and we have many clients in the town from nearly all departments and colleges.
To find out more about the student discount, check out our Cambridge page.

Jo visited the Piccalilly stand at Natural Products Europe enquiring about merchandising garments for Indigo and purchasing ranges of organic cotton in colours other than white.
Most of Picalilly’s organic cotton comes from India – where they have manufactured 100% organic cotton garments which carry the FAIRTRADE Mark, guaranteeing producers in developing countries a better deal. They also have supplies coming from Turkey and can offer a range of environmentally friendly textiles including organic cotton and bamboo. All textiles are SKAL certified and come with the EKO logo. Colour wise the options are huge and almost any pantone colour is possible. They use SKAL approved low impact dyes.
Check out their site if you are after buying cool baby and kids organic clothes.

Wondering what to do with our lunch break today, an unusually cloudy day for the April we have had so far, Lainie and myself ventured to check the new Abercrombie store just off Regent street (Savile Row). I was a little dubious about the store’s launch in the UK, as I quite liked returning from the States with an item of clothing that wasn’t available in the UK. However I would like to say the motivation was the clothing, but I’m afraid it was to put to rest the rumour of semi naked male-models parading around the store.
A wise man once said “I’m pretty sure there’s a lot more to life than being really, really good looking” (Derek Zoolander, 2001). After visiting the store I would have to say that is false!! The gorgeous sales assistants/footy-captain-style models are enough to make you want to browse the store a little longer and probably make purchases you didn’t really want.
In all honestly, we liked the layout and concept of the store, a grade 2 listed building with lots of small wooden rooms and the American varsity style paintings, giving it the ‘All American’ feel the US stores all have. However, the prices were much higher than the American stores, and despite all the eye-candy, we left empty handed… well… unless you count the phone number Lainie got! Not a complete failed shop!
Check out Abercrombie (and the topless man on the door!) at 7 Burlington Gardens, London ,W1S 3ES.

So you have been tasked with kitting out your year in comfy, hard wearing and good looking hoodies, each with a custom name on the back (you should see some of the names we have printed over the years -”Jazzhands Jen ‘Oops, I Just Wee’d‘ Arthur” was one of the finest and less rude examples!) and you are not sure where to start?

Much to Jo’s excitement, Indigo have a MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/indigoclothing.

You just listen to the ol’ Pork-Chop Express an’ take his advice on a dark and stormy night. When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favourite head up against the barroom wall, looks you crooked in the eye and asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol’ Jack Burton always says at a time like that: “Have ya paid your dues, Jack? Yessir, the check is in the mail.”
This is probably the most eccentric product description I have ever read on a t-shirt site, for the Pork-Chop Express T-Shirt ($7.99 USD), by Tees My Body. We came across them after they dropped us a line and I was stoked to see this design, as regular readers of this blog will know, ‘Porkchop‘, is the nickname of my younger brother, Andy!

Ropeadope clothing, a US based fashion brand, have a cool new ‘City Series‘ of tees, each one representing a different US city. The one above is for Philadelphia and you can pre-order the shirts now at the premium price of $22 (US).

- 2500+ items:
£0.60 £0.40
- 5000+ items:

This reduction is the result of Indigo’s drive to improve productivity and efficiency and reflects our desire to pass savings directly to customers.

A new t-shirt site called Shirt A Day have been in touch to let us know about them and what they are up to. Their USP is that they sell a different shirt every day, and for only one day. Most shirts start at only $13 – 15 (US) and what makes them unique is that as more shirts are sold, the shirt price drops (I mean we all know that shirt printing works on economies of scale).
After the day is complete they calculate a refund price and then within 24 hours that refund amount is issued to all customers. It’s not a credit, but a direct refund to their credit card or account. One shirt went as low as $8.08. They are off to a pretty strong start but are always looking for more customers, because the more people that buy, the cheaper it becomes for everyone.
Shirt A Day also share their profits with users if they submit designs and that design is chosen and are always looking for organizations that would like to partner with them for a fundraiser. Cool features include the ability to pick your own shirt colour and they now also sell baby dolls and sweatshirts. Mike from Shirt A Day tells us shirts typically ship out within 4 business days and they charge actual shipping costs.
