The Future of Web Apps: Expo

FOWA

Indigo are supporting the latest Future of Web Apps: Expo (London, ExCel 3rd to 5th October 2007), providing printed lanyards for visitors. It is a great conference, Indigo attended in 2006 and it is an opportunity to see the latest and greatest from the web2.0 era talk about the business models and codebases that will shape the web in the year to come.

FOWA is an event organised by Carson Systems, a small Bath based company whose own web apps are well worth checking out too.

Past two weeks

FESPA Logo

So what have we been up to in June? Why has the blog been so sparse on quality updates? Well…

  • We’ve been at FESPA ‘07 in Berlin looking at the latest printing hardware and listening to Scott Fresener plug T-Jet (oh, and drinking Continental’s free beer).
  • We’ve been looking at new offices in preparation for the demolition of Bucklersbury House in September ‘07.
  • We’ve been up to Cambridge to visiting the Downing Tribe and their the summer BBQ which we sponsored.
  • We’ve been busily supplying the Southbank Centre with the uniform and promo tees for their launch event: The Overture concerts.
  • We’ve been literally answering thousands of your emails and phone calls.
  • We’ve been interviewing people for the Web Developer position.
  • We’ve been working on a merchandise project with a big-US based web-brand (more details when the project launches)
  • And we’ve certainly not been getting enough sleep!

Camouflage

For fashion fans out there this may be of interest:

Camouflage Exhibition - 23 March - 18 November 2007 - Imperial War Museum, London

The first major exhibition to explore the impact of camouflage on modern warfare and its adoption into popular culture.

Find out how and why a revolution in camouflage occurred during the First World War; how teams of artists and designers were employed to conceal and distort everything from soldiers to battleships and how camouflage concepts and designs have influenced contemporary art and fashion from street-style to couture.

Aqua iso50 tee

Aqua ursine

A new version of the “Ursine” shirt is now available at the ISO50 shop. Printed on American Apparel fine jersey cotton in Aqua. We have blogged about ISO50 before and like what they do!

Fat American

Magic Bomb World

Not being rude about a person across ‘the pond’ with the title of this post but referring to fatamerican.tv who have 3 new t-shirt designs to look at on their newly redesigned website. I love the model photos taken by Wheat Wurtzburger of homeless people wearing their t-shirts. I bought one of their t-shirts (Sweatshop) a couple of years ago and whenever you go out wearing it it certainly gets comments!

Eleni’s Mum and Green School Award

Nina, head teacher and Eleni’s mum of Godwin Junior School in East London, was on the BBC today talking about her school being shortlisted for a Teaching Award in recognition of the work it does around sustainability.

Well done Mrs Panayis and her staff and kids!

Job Vacancy: Web Developer

Indigo is in need of a bright spark web developer, handy in PHP, MySQL and JS with a great personality and who actually understands the meaning of Web2.0: view ad on jobs page.

Uber-Green T-Shirt Printer: TS Designs (USA)

TS Designs

I stumbled upon this interview by eco e-zine Treehugger on a company called TS Designs in the US. TS Designs have set up a solar array and a bio-diesel coop all as part of their mission ‘to build a sustainable company that simultaneously looks after the People, the Planet and Profits’.

It is a interesting business approach to define their position in the contracting US print supply market and one to be commended - no one does it greener than these guys.
