Say no to junk mail

Junk Mail

My pet hate at the moment is scrapping the pizza delivery flyers out of our mailbox. Hackney (a London borough) households receive approximately 35 million pieces of unwanted mail each year, which weighs 900 tonnes and takes 6,000 trees to create. They produce a pack (pictured) which can help cutting it down including stickers and advice. Signing onto the Mail Preference Service (MPS) also is a good start. The pack is free (Hackney residents call 020 8356 6688) and most councils across the UK have an equivalent.

Office Move: Part 2- Six Months On

Indigo

It been exactly six months since we moved into our new offices on Provost Street, so I thought it was time for a bit of an update!

As you can see from the photo of the client services area, we have filled the place with a lot of stuff - I think there are desks under the files somewhere! Each desk now has dual screen monitors (19 and 17 inch) to make it easy to cut and paste between emails and order documents, and the Cisco VOIP phones have drastically cut our outgoing phone bills. On the wall is our ‘washing-line’ which has samples of some of our latest print jobs and Opal, Jo, Steph and Lizzie are being cooled by the great Hunter fans we talked about last time.

We have had no major dramas to report, our neighbours, Roome, are lovely and we have tonnes of storage space compared to Bucklersbury House, our previous office. We like going out in nearby Hoxton Square, making Bluu, Cru and the Real Greek our regular haunts for a drink, business lunches or birthday dinner.

Helvetica t-shirts

Helvetica

For all you typography fans out there, Collapse Design have some font inspired t-shirts for sale on their website (£15 inc postage, Paypal). Interesting product shots too as it looks like the model is taking a picture of himself with his right hand? Perhaps worth charging another pound for the tees and paying for a photographer or actually finding a friend to take the picture. Saying that, if you wear a font t-shirt…(you can guess what I might be about to say).

Quentin Blake

Downing College Association T-Shirt Artwork

Over the past months, Indigo has carried out two jobs for Quentin Blake, the much loved children’s illustrator of the Roald Dahl books. Quentin Blake is President of the Downing College Cambridge Alumni Association (he read English at Downing, 1953-56) and the t-shirts, screen printed with the artwork above, are for the Association so that they can raise funds for the many projects they support. Indigo has also printed t-shirts for Quentin’s team of staff.
