Indigo printed t-shirts for a new fashion and photography exhibition at London’s beautiful Somerset House. Fashion Revolution will showcase the talents of innovators as various as Alexander McQueen, John Galliano, Gareth Pugh, Kate Moss and Björk – alongside Knight himself.

Indigo has been producing hoodies for the Liberty Rose Trust, an organisation that raises funds and awareness for children’s brain tumour research.

When Libby was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour aged just eight months old, her parents, Carl and Dawn Finn, were devastated. Their daughter had been born with an optic glioma — a type of cancer that is labelled ‘benign’ but if allowed to grow unchecked can cause serious and irreparable damage to vision.

Throughout Libby’s diagnosis and treatment her parents and siblings have enjoyed huge support locally from family and friends. More recently they’ve gained thousands of new supporters from across the world, thanks to a group detailing Libby’s story on the social networking site Facebook.

Now Carl and Dawn hope to use this support to raise £5million for the unit that helped to diagnose and treat their daughter — the Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre — as well as other international charities that fund children’s brain tumour research. They hope to provide resources for staff and equipment which will help to speed up brain tumour diagnosis, classification and treatment by setting up a charity in their daughter’s name.

The Liberty Rose Trust also aims to provide a support network for other children suffering with brain tumours and their families. It also aims to raise awareness of brain tumours as the deadliest childhood cancer.

Indigo Clothing was commissioned to do their t-shirt printing and we completed the job on Fruit American Heavy t-shirts using Digital print.

Starlight in Monaco

Indigo Clothing printed t-shirts for the Starlight Children’s Foundation’s recent trip to Monaco where F1 fan Courtney (pictured) got to meet his hero, driver Lewis Hamilton.

It is a great charity and if you have not heard of it, here are some key facts you should know about them:

• Starlight Children’s Foundation is the leading charity in the UK, granting wishes of a lifetime to seriously and terminally ill children, and entertaining children with fun and laughter in every hospital and hospice throughout the UK.
• In its first year Starlight helped just 4 children.  This year, Starlight will help 500,000 sick children throughout the UK.
• Starlight was founded in 1987 by Emma Samms (Fallon Colby from Dynasty). When Emma was growing up, her nine-year-old brother tragically died from aplastic anaemia.  This understandably had a devastating effect on Emma and her family. Years later Emma helped a very ill boy fulfil his wish to visit Disneyland.  She was deeply moved to see the positive effect the ‘wish’ had on the boy and his family.
• Starlight operates with very low fundraising costs, with 91p of every £1 donated helping Starlight’s very ill children.
• Starlight does not receive Government or Lottery funding and relies entirely on the generosity of the general public, companies and trust funds.
• Starlight celebrity ambassadors are Sienna Miller, Matthew Williamson, Bill Nighy, Keira Knightley, Dougray Scott, and Gemma Atkinson all of whom have shown great dedication to helping Starlight’s sick children.   Starlight also receives huge celebrity support in granting wishes from people such as David and Victoria Beckham, Tom Chambers, Orlando Bloom, Sharon Osbourne and McFly – to name just a few.

The t-shirts we produced for Carsonified, the Bath based web and events company, are up for sale on their blog, and very nice they look too! They were screen printed on Gildan Heavy tees in Charcoal.

SESBC outside the Harvard boathouse

Indigo Clothing continues to supply St. Edward’s School Boat Club (SESBC) with their off-the-water kit such a the fleeces and bags modelled here by the coach and boys on their recent American visit to Boston.

These fleeces are by a brand called GameGear (see supplemental catalogue), bags by Quadra . In the past Indigo have supplied SESBC with Stedman t-shirts for charity rowing events.

The author was once upon a time a member of this fine club and is delighted to be supplying them with the quality kit they deserve!

Annie Vernon, Indigo’s second client, and one time blog contributor, happens to be rowing for the Great Britain team in the upcoming Olympic games in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls. Her crew enter the tournament as reigning World Champions and everyone is hoping they can bring home gold. Indigo Clothing made up this embroidered logo, featuring both the Chinese and Cornish flags, for polo shirts worn by both her supporters and her family.

I am personally delivering the polo shirts (and some cool t-shirts designed by Swedish graphic designer Roland) to the rowing lake. Back in the office on 19th August. The team will be ably lead by Jo Myronidis during by absence as an international courier.

Kerrang!'s team model their new printed t-shirts

Indigo recently supplied Kerrang Radio with some awesome printed tees for their roadies promo team! The bold stripy Continental tees with the contrasting red print definitely created the eye catching look they were after!

RSPCA Pancake Maker Apron on the transfer print machine

Last week Indigo Clothing printed a range of items including the apron above for the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Protection of Animals), one of the UK’s largest charities, in aid of their Free-Range Egg Campaign. Their staff were sporting a range of RSPCA branded apparel at the Ben and Jerry’s Sundae event on Clapham Common in South West London. Indigo transfer printed some of the items such as the aprons, chefs hats and bum bags as unlike the t-shirts these where only needed in very small quantities. Using the screen printing we tradionally prefer, the design above would be quite expensive as it has multiple colours and drop shadow. However, transfer printing using our new heat press and the Universal Opaque Transfer system by Target (PDF) was a breeze and producing cracking results.

Rain seems to be threathening the third set on the mens singles Wimbledon final as Nadal seems set to take the throphy from Federer. 

This year Indigo Clothing again embroidered some of the players Adidas shirts, thanks to a regular Wimbledon order from sports management agency SFX/BEST. As usual we did both sleeves for the US top seeds Bryan Brothers and also newcomer Sam Querrey.

Sadly for the Byrans they got knocked out of the of the men’s doubles at the semi-final stage by Jonas Bjorkman and Kevin Ullyett. However, they still play on the mixed doubles final today. Good luck to them both!

Indigo are pleased to supply t-shirts for exclusive Mayfair personal trainer and personal training studios, Matt Roberts Personal Training. Famous as a ‘Personal trainer to the stars, Matt’s clients include Naomi Campbell and Sting!

Matt’s gym recently featured in the London Lite newspaper, highlighting the benefits of their two week summer boot camp! The results were positive and the subject in question seemed very pleased with the outcome.

London nervously awaits the results of the Mayoral elections 2008, wondering which clown won. Indigo Clothing screen printed the t-shirts for the ‘London Elects‘ staff, the organisation running the election. Last night the polls were very close, with second choice votes looking important for both Boris and Ken.

I am not going to add to the millions of words that have been wasted on this subject already and simply want to wish everyone a lovely bank holiday weekend!

I used the British Library for the first time last Thursday. An incredible building not far from the Indigo Clothing offices and near Kings Cross train station. Did you know they receive a copy of every publication produced in the UK and Ireland and the collection includes 150 million items, in most known languages?

Trying to get a card to access one of the many reading rooms seemed harder than renewing my UK passport, so if you are tempted to use the facility make sure you have all the ID they demand, before they begin the lengthy process of taking a digital photo and checking your reading list. Then, even if you cross your fingers, join the cloakroom queue to hand in your bag and pens (only pencils allowed!), you’ll be told there are in fact no seats left in the reading room and books take over an hour to be fetched from the basement. Next time I go, I am going to arrive early and better prepared!

The BL has an excellent Business and IP Centre which is well worth using too and in the past Indigo has helped members of this department with their research. Last year we also produced t-shirts for one of their excellent exhibitions, Sacred; so it is worth visiting even if you are not going to seek a book or publication.
