The London marathon is going to kill me in this weather…. the drinking/cheering I mean… I am not crazy enough to actually run the marathon! Amongst the thousands of runners descending upon the streets of London this weekend is our friend Lyn Brooks. She is raising money for the Spinal Injuries Association.

She has raised a great amount so far through various means, including selling printed tees from Indigo Clothing!

It’s cold and dark outside, so spare a thought for those pounding the streets and ticking of the miles in preparation for the Virgin London Marathon, coming up on the 25th April 2010. I have experienced the highs and lows of those 26.2 miles first hand, having run the ING New York Marathon in 2006. In the run-up I was encouraged by an ‘old hand’ to print my name on my running t-shirt, so the crowds could cheer me on my way.

Annie Vernon, Indigo’s second client, and one time blog contributor, happens to be rowing for the Great Britain team in the upcoming Olympic games in the Women’s Quadruple Sculls. Her crew enter the tournament as reigning World Champions and everyone is hoping they can bring home gold. Indigo Clothing made up this embroidered logo, featuring both the Chinese and Cornish flags, for polo shirts worn by both her supporters and her family.

I am personally delivering the polo shirts (and some cool t-shirts designed by Swedish graphic designer Roland) to the rowing lake. Back in the office on 19th August. The team will be ably lead by Jo Myronidis during by absence as an international courier.

Last date for ordering promotional clothing before Christmas will be Monday 17th December (subject to order size and complexity). If you do need screen printing or embroidery before Xmas, we really do advise you get in touch ASAP.

Indigo have just spent the weekend in Helsinki, Finland, on our annual sales conference and we caught up with Essi, ate Rudolph and got well acquainted with the local fire brigade. Jo (left) and Steph (right) got into the seasonal spirit early at the airport – more hilarious stories and photos to follow!

The office will be closed between Christmas Eve and New Year – back to work on 2nd January 2008.

Tonight, I am off to the Strand to have drinks with the man, nicknamed ‘The Major’ at uni, who is credited with placing the first ever order with Indigo back in 2001! After leaving university, ‘The Major’ went off to serve in Iraq with the British Army as part of OP TELIC 3 and continued to order copious quantities of embroidered t-shirts which we dispatched via the BFPO (British Forces Post Office). Looking forward to catching up!

Congratulations to Annie Vernon and her crew, who became world champions at the weekend, winning gold for GB Rowing at the World Rowing Championships in Munich over the weekend in the Womens Quad (4x).

Annie was Indigo’s second ever client and official Indigo quizmaster.

Indigo Clothing welcomes Karl (left) and Lhea (right), from the excellent, and highly acclaimed, t-shirt blog Tcritic, who are going to be guest authors on the Indigo blog. Life is pretty busy at Indigo right now and we have less and less time to browse the weird and wonderful tee sites that exist, so that is why we turned to Karl and Lhea help us out.

Tcritic is a t-shirt review site, which has over 3000 reported subscribers to its RSS feed. It is full of bright pictures, great editorial and links and adverts to the best t-shirt sites, wheter they be boutique brands or monster marques. These guys spend hours sifting through the detritus to bring their readers the best of what is out there and now they are going to do the same for Indigo readers. We strongly encourage you to check out what they are up to and we look forward to publishing their work here too.

Sorry for the lack of posting this week but those of us in the office with IT skills have been busy putting a website together for one of our clients, Michelle from Stems Florist in Marlow (and Twickenham). The e-commerce side is not up and running yet as Worldpay need to get their ‘A-into-G‘ and sort out a new installation ID, but that is by-the-by, and just me ranting. It was definitely a fun project to be involved with and I can now get back to thinking about t-shirts.

New-kid-on-the-block, travel guide/wiki/travel toolbox, Unearth Travel, is camping out on the Indigo server (aka Ange) for the foreseeable future so their brand new Web 2.0-style site can zip along at high speeds.

Unearth has been hand crafted over the past six months by Jeremy, Rob and Pip, who work in the Indigo office, each day crafting more travel-related goodness from Flash, JavaScript, PHP and blood, sweat and tears. They blog and are happy to take your money to get to the next stage of their adventure.

Next Thursday sees the official launch of Newconsumer.com, the web’s newest and hottest ethical lifestyle magazine. Packed with daily news, views and interviews on everything green and Fairtrade, the site’s written by the UK’s top ethical journalists including The Guardian’s Lucy Siegle and Richard Hammond, Metro’s Bel Jacobs, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, plus many of the web’s top eco bloggers.

Our friend, and fellow blogger, Adam Vaughan, is the Online Editor and is organising a launch bash in London next week. The Indigo team will be along to wish him, and the magazine, all the best.

Julia completed the New York marathon last weekend within her target time of 5 hours (she did it in 4 hrs 59 mins!). To quote her last email:

“…marathon was a rather strange experience – some bits were happy and some bits were sad. Generally very pleased to have finished the whole thing but certainly not something I’ll be doing again in a hurry. I have come to the conclusion that there are much easier and considerably less painful ways to travel from Staten Island to Manhattan.”
