L’Ile de la Rèunion

Keeping up the French theme, we have a client that wants us to ship to L’Ile de la Rèunion (Reunion Island). History was more my forte than Geography, so a look at the CIA fact book reveals that the island is in fact in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar. It sounds like a fascinating place:

The Portuguese discovered the uninhabited island in 1513. From the 17th to the 19th centuries, French immigration, supplemented by influxes of Africans, Chinese, Malays, and Malabar Indians, gave the island its ethnic mix. The opening of the Suez Canal in 1869 cost the island its importance as a stopover on the East Indies trade route.

I know we tell clients we ship anywhere in the world, but this French colony is the remotest we have ever done.
