A Brief Guide to Pantones

What are Pantone colours?

Pantone is an American company which developed the Pantone Matching System (PMS) which allows printers like Indigo to match a specific colour when a design enters production, regardless of the equipment used to produce the screen print.

How do I know what the Pantone colour of my design is?

You need to use an official Pantone book or chart and pick the colour from the book. For screen printing we use the SOLID COATED book. Is important to pick colours under natural light.

Why can’t I give you a different screen colour reference such as RGB or Hex?

Depending on the way you monitor is calibrated what you see on your computer monitor may come out entirely different when printed on a t-shirt. That is why, if you are concerned about colour fidelity, that you use a proper up-to-date Pantone guide, otherwise you could be disappointed. There are also a number of tools on the market that allow you to calibrate your monitor accurately (compare on Google Shopping).
